Why this example works

Compliance dominates Indian HR postings

Compliance appeared 54 times across our sample and payroll 33 — far ahead of anything cultural or strategic. The second and third bullets answer that directly, with the statutes named.

Headcount and sites place the role

640 employees, two sites, a team of four. HR jobs vary enormously by scale, and this line lets a recruiter match or discard in seconds.

Attrition is the one number leadership tracks

24% to 13%, with the three interventions that did it. Naming the methods stops it reading as a lucky market shift.

Employee relations cases are quantified carefully

31 cases including 6 POSH complaints, run to documented closure. It signals experience with difficult work without disclosing anything about the cases themselves.

The HRIS is named

Darwinbox and SuccessFactors are screened for in Indian HR hiring the way ERP systems are in finance. "HRMS experience" would lose that match.

What hr manager postings actually ask for

We pulled 10 live postings (HR manager, India) on 24 September 2026 and counted what they mention — counted across all 10 descriptions, so a posting that repeats a term counts each time. The example above uses these terms where they are genuinely true of the person, which is the only way to use them.

TermMentions across those postings

Payroll33
Employee relations13

How those postings describe the work, in their own words:

  • maintain onboarding, probation, role-change and offboarding checklists and ensure employee records are updated promptly
  • develop consistent investigation practices and provide capability building and training for managers
  • partner with legal, compliance, risk and security teams on ethics and code matters
  • coordinate learning and development requirements identified by managers or through appraisals
  • recruitment coordination and talent intelligence

Mistakes to avoid on a hr manager resume

Writing soft-skill adjectives instead of scope

"People-oriented HR professional" says nothing. Headcount, sites, payroll volume and case numbers say what you can actually handle.

Skipping statutory detail

In India, PF, ESI, gratuity, contract labour and POSH are the substance of the job. Listing them is not padding; omitting them is a gap.

Describing recruitment as the whole role

Hiring is one part. Compliance, payroll, ER and performance are what an HR manager is measured on, and postings weight them far higher.

Sharing case specifics

Never name individuals or describe incidents. Counts, categories and outcomes are the right level of detail.

Frequently asked questions

What matters most on an HR manager resume in India?

Statutory compliance and payroll, by a distance. In the postings we sampled, compliance was mentioned 54 times — more than every recruitment term combined.

Should I mention POSH experience?

Yes, as a capability and a certification if you hold one. Say how many cases you handled and that they reached documented closure; never describe them.

Do I need an MBA in HR?

It's common in India and often used as a screening filter, particularly at manager level. Experience with payroll, compliance and ER can substitute in smaller organisations.

How do I show HR impact with numbers?

Attrition, time-to-fill, payroll query volume, audit findings, training completion. All four are tracked already, which is what makes them credible.

One page or two for an HR manager?

Two at this level. Nine years, three roles and a compliance portfolio don't compress into one page without losing the part employers screen on.
