DraftCareer, answered
What it costs, what happens to your resume, how to cancel, and what the free check actually measures — without having to sign up to find out.
What is DraftCareer?
DraftCareer is an online resume builder at draftcareer.com, free to start and with no watermark on the PDF. One profile feeds 48 resume templates, 4 cover letter templates and a job search across 23 countries, so the same career history is written once and reused for every application.
Its ATS checker is free and needs no account: upload a resume and it returns a score out of 100 against 11 weighted checks. Paid access is $59.99 a year, or a pass that charges once and ends — $3.99 for 10 days, $14.99 for 60.
The basics
- Is DraftCareer free?
- DraftCareer is free to start and asks for no card to sign up. The free plan includes full profile editing, 3 templates, 5 documents and one PDF download, and the downloaded PDF carries no watermark. The ATS checker is free without an account at all. Paid plans unlock the other 45 templates and unlimited downloads.
- Is DraftCareer safe and legitimate?
- DraftCareer is a registered business with its details published in its imprint, and it has been running since 2026. Payments are handled by Polar as merchant of record, so card details never reach DraftCareer’s own servers. Resumes are never sold or shared with employers, and an account can be deleted permanently from My Account at any time.
- Who is behind DraftCareer?
- DraftCareer was founded by Ekta Kapadia and is run by a small team. The about page explains why it is built the way it is, and the imprint carries the legal and contact details.
- Does DraftCareer put a watermark on the PDF?
- No. Resumes and cover letters downloaded from DraftCareer carry no watermark and no branding on any plan, the free one included. The file is a real text PDF rather than an image, so applicant tracking software can read every word of it.
Cost, plans and cancelling
- How much does DraftCareer cost?
- DraftCareer costs $59.99 a year, or ₹4,599 in India. Instead of subscribing you can buy a 10-day pass at $3.99 (₹249) or a 60-day pass at $14.99 (₹999), both of which charge once and then end. Monthly and quarterly plans exist too, and every current figure is on the pricing page, which needs no login.
- Do the 10-day and 60-day passes renew?
- No. A DraftCareer pass is a single charge that expires by itself — no card is kept on file, nothing renews, and there is nothing to remember to cancel. Most people job hunt for a few weeks rather than a few years, which is why the passes exist alongside the subscription.
- How do I cancel DraftCareer?
- A DraftCareer subscription is cancelled from the My Account page, in two clicks and with no email required. Access continues to the end of the period already paid for rather than stopping that day. Passes need no cancelling, because they end on their own.
- Does DraftCareer offer refunds?
- Yes. Contact DraftCareer within 7 days of a first payment and it is refunded in full, for subscriptions and passes alike. The full policy is in section 5 of the terms, and requests go to help@draftcareer.com.
- What does a paid plan add that the free plan does not have?
- A paid plan on DraftCareer adds all 48 resume templates instead of 3, unlimited PDF downloads instead of one PDF download in total, AI-drafted cover letters, AI writing assistance inside the editor, and Job Search across 23 countries. Profile editing, the ATS checker and the watermark-free PDF are the same on both.
Your resume and your data
- Do I need an account to check my resume?
- No. DraftCareer’s ATS checker asks for no account, no email address and no card. Upload a PDF or DOCX and the score, the full checklist and the keyword breakdown appear immediately. An account is only needed to build and save a resume.
- Does DraftCareer store my resume?
- A file uploaded to the free ATS checker is parsed in memory to produce the score and is not saved to any account or database. A resume built in the editor is stored, because it has to be there when you come back to it — and it can be deleted individually, or entirely with the account.
- Does DraftCareer sell my data or share it with employers?
- No. A DraftCareer profile and the documents built from it are used only to render your own resumes and cover letters, and to draft content with AI where you have asked for it. Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared with employers, recruiters or other users. The privacy policy lists every third-party service involved.
- Can I delete my DraftCareer account and everything in it?
- Yes, from the Danger Zone on the My Account page, without emailing anyone. Deleting an account permanently removes the profile, every resume and every cover letter, which is why it asks you to type your email address first. It cannot be undone.
What DraftCareer does
- How many resume templates does DraftCareer have?
- DraftCareer has 48 resume templates and 4 cover letter templates, with 3 of the resume templates available on the free plan. They split into ATS-safe single-column designs, built to survive automated parsing, and visual ones with sidebars, banners or a photo slot. All 48 are previewable without signing up.
- What does DraftCareer's free ATS checker actually test?
- The checker runs 11 weighted checks and returns a score out of 100. Five are structural — whether text can be extracted at all, whether contact details are findable, whether the section headings are standard, whether the layout is a single column, and whether real bullet points are used. Six are about content: a professional summary, achievements backed by numbers, a real skills list, dated work history, education, and a sensible length. Pasting a job description adds a keyword-overlap score on top.
- What file formats does DraftCareer accept and produce?
- DraftCareer accepts PDF and DOCX uploads up to 5MB, and produces PDF. A PDF upload gives the most accurate ATS score, because the single-column check can only run on a PDF. A scanned or photographed resume has no extractable text and will score zero on the first check.
- Does DraftCareer write cover letters?
- Yes. Give DraftCareer the company, the role title and the job description, and it drafts a letter from those plus your profile, which you then edit before sending. Cover letters are a paid feature, and the 4 cover letter templates match the resume designs so an application looks like one document set.
Who it is for
- Is DraftCareer suitable for freshers and first jobs?
- Yes, and the hardest part of a first resume — having little to put in it — is what the guided setup is built around. DraftCareer asks about coursework, projects, internships and activities, then writes them up as experience. The fresher examples show what that looks like finished.
- Does DraftCareer work for job seekers in India?
- Yes, and India is where most of its users are. Prices are charged in rupees — ₹249 for a 10-day pass, ₹4,599 a year — and the India guidance covers the conventions that differ there, including when to show CGPA and whether to include a photo. Job Search covers India alongside 22 other countries.
- Is DraftCareer only for tech roles?
- No. The worked examples cover 13 roles including accountant, HR manager, retail store manager, financial analyst and postdoctoral researcher, each written from real job postings. Nothing in the builder assumes an industry.
- How is DraftCareer different from Kickresume, Zety or Resume.io?
- Mostly on yearly cost and on what is free. DraftCareer is $59.99 a year against Kickresume’s $96, Zety’s $71.40 and Resume.io’s $199.80, which has no annual plan at all. DraftCareer’s ATS checker is free and account-free, where Kickresume’s is a Premium feature. The comparison pages give every figure with its source, and say where each competitor is the better choice.
